1. To dig; தோண்டுதல். கவலை கெண்டிய கல்வாய் [thonduthal. kavalai kendiya kalvay] (குறுந்தொகை [kurundogai] 233).
2. To cut and eat; அறுத் துத் தின்னுதல். மன்றத்து மதவிடை கெண்டி [aruth thuth thinnuthal. manrathu mathavidai kendi] (பத்துப்பாட்டு: பெரும்பாணாற்றுப்படை [pathuppattu: perumbanarruppadai] 143).
3. To work in, as a bee gathering honey in flowers; கிண்டுதல். வண்டு கெண்டி மருவும் பொழில் [kinduthal. vandu kendi maruvum pozhil] (தேவாரம் [thevaram] 626, 10).
