Kauśikagotra (कौशिकगोत्र).—Got different pravaras from the Visvāmitras;1 about 25 among them mentioned: Pārthivas, Devarathas, Yājñavalkyas, Samarṣaṇas, Udumbaras, Udumlānas, Tārakas, Yamamuñcatas, Lohiṇyas, Reṇavas, Kāñṣavas, Babhravas, Pāṇinas, Dhyānajapyas, Śālāvakyas, Hiraṇyākṣas, Syaṅkṛtas, Gālavas, Devalas, Yāmadūtas, Sālaṅkāyanabāṣakalas, Dadātibādaras, etc.; marriage alliances only with other ṛṣi gotras allowed.2
