Kaulīna (कौलीन).—a. [kau pṛthivyāṃ līnaḥ aluksa°; kulādāgataḥ khañ vā; kulālavaḥ P.IV.1.139] Belonging to a noble family.

-naḥ 1 The son of a female beggar.

2) A follower of the left hand Śākta ritual.

-nam 1 An evil report, a scandal; मालविकागतं किमपि कौलीनं श्रूयते (mālavikāgataṃ kimapi kaulīnaṃ śrūyate) M.3; तदेव कौलीनमिव प्रतिभाति (tadeva kaulīnamiva pratibhāti) V.2; Meghadūta 114; कौलीनमात्माश्रयमाचचक्षे (kaulīnamātmāśrayamācacakṣe) R.14.36,84.
