Kāśyapapura (काश्यपपुर) refers to an old name of Kashmir and appears to have been a kingdom of considerable extent. It has been connected with the Kaspapuros of Hekataio, polis Iandarike Skuthon, said to have been in or near Paktuike and called Kaspaturos by Herodotos, from which Skylax started on his voyage down the Indus.
