1. Karṇa. See கன்னன். அருண வெங்கதி ராயிரத்தவ னன்பினா லுதவும் கருணனும் [kannan. arunasalapuranam vengathi rayirathava nanpina luthavum karunanum] (மகாபாரதம் பதினாறாம். [magaparatham pathinaram.] 37).
2. A shorter form of the name of Kumbha-Karṇa, a brother of Rāvaṇa; கும்பகர்ணன். கருணன் செய்த பேரெழி லாண்மையெல்லாம் [kumbagarnan. karunan seytha perezhi lanmaiyellam] (கம்பராமாயணம் மாயாசன. [kambaramayanam mayasana.] 1).
