kapāḷaphōḍī (कपाळफोडी).—f A plant, Octandria monogynia. Called in some districts cirabōṭī also phōmpēṭī. Its fruit (kapāḷaphōḍā m) is puffed or air-blown. Children, by pressing it to their forehead (kapāḷa), burst it with a pop. Hence its name.
