Kaṇḍughna (कण्डुघ्न) is the Sanskrit name for a group of medicinal plants, classified as “curing prurites”, and originally composed by Caraka in his Carakasaṃhitā sūtrasthāna IV. The name is derived from the word kaṇḍu, translating to “itching”. It is a technical term used throughout Āyurveda. Examples of plants pertaining to this category include Candana (Red sandal), Nalada (Nardostachys jatamansi), Naktamāla (Galedupa indica), Nimva (Melia azadirachta). The collection of herbs named Kaṇḍughna is one of the fifty Mahākaṣāya.
