Lit., 'atom-eater', name of the founder of the Vaiśeṣika system of Indian Philosophy, which is closely allied to the Nyāya system with which it came to be syncretized at later stages, the word kaṇāda having reference probably from to the original relation of Indian atomism to the Vaiśeṣika system; வைசேடிக மதாசாரியனான முனி வன். அக்கபாதன் கணாதன் சைமினி [vaisediga mathasariyanana muni van. akkapathan kanathan saimini] (மணிமேகலை [manimegalai] 27, 82).
