Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarykānapiḷā (कानपिळा) [or ळ्या, ḷyā].—m In marriages. A name for the brother of the bride. It is a point of his office to pull the ears of the bridegroom; and another, to place the lāhyā upon the hands of the bride for lājāhōma; in remuneration of which services he receives kānapiḷyācēṃ (or kānapiḷaṇīcēṃ) pāgōṭēṃ.
