Kaliṅgara, (m. nt.) (BB ḷ) (cp. Sk. kaḍaṅkara & kaḍaṅgara, on which in sense of “log” see Kern, Toev. s. v. kalingara) 1. a log, a piece of wood M. I, 449, 451; S. II, 268; DhA. III, 315; often in sense of something useless, or a trifle (combined with kaṭṭha q. v.) Dh. 41; DhA. I, 321 (=kaṭṭhakhaṇḍa, a chip) Th. 2, 468 (id.) as kaṭṭhakalingarāni DhA. II, 142.—2. a plank, viz. a step in a staircase, in sopāna° Vin. II, 128, cp. sopāna-kaḷevara.
