Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionarykāḷī rātra (काळी रात्र) [or काळी शिळी रात्र, kāḷī śiḷī rātra].—f (kāḷa & rātra) A term for night, "The solemn hour of night." Ex. hī kā0 cālalī āhē mī khōṭēṃ bōlalōṃ tara pāhūna ghēīla. 2 Used in loc. case as ad kāḷyā śiḷyā rātrīṃ. See further under bharalyā bandākhālīṃ basaṇēṃ under banda. These words are applied also to the night of amāvāsyā or Conjunction; also to midnight; also to Night generally in connection with (besides Lying and Making oath) Inauspicious or ill-boding speech, demoniac visitation &c.
