kaḍhaṇī (कढणी).—f (Verbal of kaḍhaṇēṃ q. v.) The undergoing of the process of scalding, heating, boiling &c.

kāḍhaṇī (काढणी).—f (Verbal of kāḍhaṇēṃ although used restrictedly. ) Gathering of the harvest; i.e. the reaping (of jōndhaḷā, wheat, barley &c.), or the plucking up (of the legumes); the gathering and the carrying of the fruits of the earth; the reaping and the hauling. 2 A stout rope, esp. of cotton, but also of ambāḍī, tāga, & rēśīma. Used restrictedly: e. g. a rope for drawing water from a well; a rope for tying a horse to his picket, or for leading him about; the rope attached to a gōṇī, kaṇṭhāḷa, ākhēṃ, bastā or load or bale gen.; a tent-rope.
