決定 [jue ding]—"Jueding" (决定 [jue ding]) – [Term] Refers to a state where things are settled and unmoving. The Sutra of Immeasurable Life (無量壽經 [wu liang shou jing]) states: "One will certainly attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment (無上正覺 [wu shang zheng jue])." The Jewel Cave of the Śrīmālādevī Sūtra (勝鬘經寶窟 [sheng man jing bao ku]) states: "'Jueding' refers to faith (信 [xin])."

1. To make judgments and assert opinions on matters. From Records of the Grand Historian (史记 [shi ji]), Volume 3 (卷三 [juan san]), Annals of Yin (殷本纪 [yin ben ji]): "Emperor Wu Ding (帝武丁 [di wu ding]) ascended the throne, thinking of restoring the Yin Dynasty (殷 [yin]), but had not yet found his assistant. For three years he did not speak, and state affairs were decided by the Prime Minister (冢宰 [zhong zai])." From Book of Han (汉书 [han shu]), Volume 74 (卷七四 [juan qi si]), Biography of Wei Xiang Bing Ji (魏相丙吉传 [wei xiang bing ji chuan]), Bing Ji (丙吉 [bing ji]): "To let the world know clearly, and then decide on major policies (大策 [da ce])."
2. Certainly; definitely. From Classified Conversations of Master Zhu (朱子语类 [zhu zi yu lei]), Volume 131 (卷一三一 [juan yi san yi]), On Figures from the Mid-Restoration to the Present (中兴至今日人物上 [zhong xing zhi jin ri ren wu shang]): "If you wish to do it together with Tang Jinzhi (汤进之 [tang jin zhi]), it definitely cannot be done; later it indeed turned out this way." Song Dynasty (宋 [song]). Lu You's (陆游 [lu you]) poem "Journey on the 105th Day" (一百五日行 [yi bai wu ri xing]): "Green mountains (青山 [qing shan]) in the eyes, a grave (塚 [zhong]) behind; this matter is certain, why do you doubt?"
3. Firm will; determination. For example: "He has a better job opportunity and has decided (决定 [jue ding]) to leave; it seems he cannot be kept."
4. To draw a conclusion on a matter. For example: "Important proposals must have a decision (决定 [jue ding]) at today's meeting."

決定:1.對事情做判斷與主張。《史記.卷三.殷本紀》:「帝武丁即位,思復興殷,而未得其佐。三年不言,政事決定於冢宰。」《漢書.卷七四.魏相丙吉傳.丙吉》:「令天下昭然知之,然後決定大策。」

絕頂 [jué dǐng] [jue ding]—
1. The highest peak of a mountain. From Shen Yue's (沈約 [chen yue]) poem "Early Departure from Mount Ding" (〈早發定山 [zao fa ding shan]〉) from the Southern Dynasties, Liang Dynasty (南朝梁 [nan chao liang]): "The slanting cliff suddenly stands upright, the peak is again singularly round." From "First Collection of Stories to Strike the Table and Amaze the World" (《初刻拍案驚奇 [chu ke pai an jing qi]》), Volume One (卷一 [juan yi]): "You Ruoxu (又若虛 [you ruo xu]), seeing that others were not going, insisted on making a determined effort, pulling on vines and grasping at kudzu, walking straight to the island's peak."
2. Extremely, to the utmost. From "The Scholars" (《儒林外史 [ru lin wai shi]》), Chapter Eighteen (第一八回 [di yi ba hui]): "He is extremely intelligent; after reading for one night, he had already understood it." From "A Brief History of Civilization" (《文明小史 [wen ming xiao shi]》), Chapter Twenty-one (第二一回 [di er yi hui]): "This Yang Ziyu (楊子羽 [yang zi yu]) not only has good scholarship but also has excellent social skills."
