Jñāniviśārada (ज्ञानिविशारद) refers to a “one who is wise and clever” and is used to describe Śiva, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.3.13 (“Śiva-Pārvatī dialogue”).—Accordingly, as Pārvatī said to Śiva: “O Yogin, O lord, wise and clever [i.e., jñāniviśārada], please listen to the reply to what you, as an ascetic, said to the lord of mountains. O Śiva, you perform this great penance because you possess the energy of penance. Your intellect is inclined to perform penance because you are a noble soul. That energy is the Prakṛti, the cause of all activities. Everything is created, sustained and destroyed by it”.
