2) 九居 [jiu ju]—see also 九有 [jiu you], 九地 [jiu de], 九禪 [jiu chan] and 九定 [jiu ding]; the nine happy abodes or states of sentient beings of the 長阿含經 [zhang a han jing] 9; they are the 七識住 [qi shi zhu] seven abodes or stages of perception or consciousness to which are added the fifth and ninth below: (1) 欲界之人天 [yu jie zhi ren tian] the world and the six deva-heavens of desire in which there is variety of bodies (or personalities) and thinking (or ideas); (2) 梵衆天 [fan zhong tian] the three brahma heavens where bodies differ but thinking is the same, the first dhyāna heaven; (3) 極光淨天 [ji guang jing tian] the three bright and pure heavens where bodies are identical but thinking diners, the second dhyāna heaven; (4) 遍淨天 [bian jing tian] the three universally pure heavens where bodies and thinking are the same, the third dhyāna heaven; (5) 無想天 [wu xiang tian] the no-thinking or no-thought heaven, the highest of the four dhyāna heavens; (6) 空無邊處 [kong wu bian chu] limitless space, the first of the formless realms; (7) 識無邊處 [shi wu bian chu] limitless percepton, the second ditto; (8) 無所有處 [wu suo you chu] nothingness, the place beyond things, the third ditto; and (9) 非想非非想 [fei xiang fei fei xiang] beyond thought or non-thought, the fourth ditto.

九居 [jiu ju]—(jiǔ jū) — [Term] An abbreviation of the nine abodes of sentient beings (九有情居 [jiu you qing ju]). Jigui Zhuan (寄歸傳 [ji gui chuan]), Vol. 1, states: "Upholding [the Dharma] for eight kalpas, widely saving those in the nine abodes." Xingshi Chao (行事鈔 [xing shi chao]), Vol. 4, Part 2, states: "The Three Realms (三界 [san jie]) and the nine abodes are indeed the dwelling places of sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng])."

久居 [jiǔ jū] [jiu ju]—
Long-term residency (長期居留 [zhang qi ju liu]). From Romance of the Three Kingdoms (《三國演義 [san guo yan yi]》), Chapter 9: "Although I am favored by the Grand Tutor (太師 [tai shi]), I fear this place is not suitable for a long stay, and I will surely be harmed by Lü Bu (呂布 [lu bu])." From A Brief History of Civilization (《文明小史 [wen ming xiao shi]》), Chapter 49: "My dear friend, having lived in Hong Kong (香港 [xiang gang]) for a long time, you are very familiar with all matters of Sino-foreign relations (中外交涉 [zhong wai jiao she]), and I am deeply impressed."
久居:長期居留。《三國演義》第九回:「雖蒙太師憐愛,但恐此處不宜久居,必被呂布所害。」《文明小史》第四九回:「老兄久居香港,於中外交涉一切,熟悉得很,兄弟佩服之至。」

僦居 [jiù jū] [jiu ju]—
Living in rented accommodation (租屋居住 [zu wu ju zhu]). From Duan Anjie's (段安節 [duan an jie]) "Miscellaneous Records of Music Bureau" (樂府雜錄 [le fu za lu]), chapter "Bìlì" (觱篥 [bi li]) from the Tang (唐 [tang]) Dynasty: "Within a few months, [he] arrived in the capital (京 [jing]) and visited Yu Chiqing (尉遲青 [wei chi qing]). His residence (所居 [suo ju]) was in Changle Fang (常樂坊 [chang le fang]), so [he] rented accommodation nearby."
僦居:租屋居住。唐.段安節《樂府雜錄.觱篥》:「不數月,到京,訪尉遲青,所居在常樂坊,乃側近僦居。」
