九會說 [jiu hui shuo]—The Huayan sutra 華嚴經 [hua yan jing] in its older sixty chuan version is said to have been delivered at eight assemblies in seven places; the newer eighty chuan at nine assemblies in seven places; cf. 九處 [jiu chu].

九會說 [jiu hui shuo]—Nine Assemblies' Explanation—[Miscellaneous Notes] The Buddha's Avatamsaka Sutra (佛說華嚴經 [fu shuo hua yan jing]), according to the old translation (舊譯 [jiu yi]) of the sixty-scroll sutra (六十卷經 [liu shi juan jing]), comprises seven locations and eight assemblies (七處八會 [qi chu ba hui]). According to the new translation (新譯 [xin yi]) of the eighty-scroll sutra (八十卷經 [ba shi juan jing]), it comprises seven locations and nine assemblies (七處九會 [qi chu jiu hui]).
