九皋 [jiǔ gāo] [jiu gao]—
Deep in the marshes (水澤 [shui ze]). From The Book of Odes (《詩經 [shi jing]》), Minor Odes (小雅 [xiao ya]), "Crane Cries" (鶴鳴 [he ming]): "The crane cries in the nine marshes, its sound is heard in heaven." From Selections of Refined Literature (《文選 [wen xuan]》), Zhao Zhi's (趙至 [zhao zhi]) "Letter to Ji Maoqi" (與嵇茂齊書 [yu ji mao qi shu]): "Wandering within the nine marshes, feeling impassioned on the peaks of the high hills (重阜 [zhong fu])."
九皋:水澤深處。《詩經.小雅.鶴鳴》:「鶴鳴于九皋,聲聞于天。」《文選.趙至.與嵇茂齊書》:「徘徊九皋之內,慷慨重阜之巔。」
