衿契 [jīn qì] [jin qi]—
Friends who share the same aspirations and ideals (志意相投的朋友 [zhi yi xiang tou de peng you]), a confidant (知己 [zhi ji]). From A New Account of Tales of the World (《世說新語 [shi shuo xin yu]》) by Liu Yiqing (劉義慶 [liu yi qing]) of the Liu Song Dynasty (南朝宋 [nan chao song]), "Rectitude" (方正 [fang zheng]) chapter: Gu Mengzhu (顧孟著 [gu meng zhe]) once offered wine to Zhou Boren (周伯仁 [zhou bo ren]), but Zhou Boren (伯仁 [bo ren]) refused. Gu (顧 [gu]) then moved to offer the wine to a pillar (柱 [zhu]), and said to the pillar (柱 [zhu]): "How can you immediately consider yourself a pillar of the state (棟梁 [dong liang]) and act so aloof!" Zhou (周 [zhou]) understood this happily, and thereupon they became bosom friends.

A type of coating (塗料 [tu liao]). Its main ingredients (主要成分 [zhu yao cheng fen]) are copper powder (銅粉 [tong fen]) and fake lacquer (假漆 [jia qi]). The celluloid (賽璐珞 [sai lu luo]) component in the fake lacquer (假漆 [jia qi]), combined with the metal powder (金屬粉末 [jin shu fen mo]), forms a waterproof (不透水 [bu tou shui]) and airtight (不透空氣 [bu tou kong qi]) protective layer (保護層 [bao hu ceng]), making its luster (光澤 [guang ze]) extremely durable. Furthermore, its color closely resembles that made from real gold (真金 [zhen jin]) gold leaf (金箔 [jin bo]), hence it is called "gold lacquer". It is widely used on furniture (家具 [jia ju]) and works of art (藝術作品 [yi shu zuo pin]).
