金剛法界宮 [jin gang fa jie gong]—The palace or shrine of Vairocana in the Garbhadhātu.
[The following represents an unverified English translation. For all purposes consult the original Chinese text.]
金剛法界宮 [jin gang fa jie gong]—(Vajradhatu-mandala Palace) — [術語 [shu yu] (Term)] It is the 宮殿 [gong dian] (palace) where 胎藏界大日如來 [tai cang jie da ri ru lai] (Vairocana Buddha of the Garbhadhatu) resides. The 大日經 [da ri jing] (Mahavairocana Sutra), Chapter 1, states: "The 薄伽梵 [bao jia fan] (Bhagavan) dwells in the vast (Vajradhatu-mandala Palace) empowered by the 如來 [ru lai] (Tathagata)." According to a profound esoteric explanation, 金剛 [jin gang] (Vajra) is the 如來 [ru lai] (Tathagata)'s 實相智 [shi xiang zhi] (wisdom of ultimate reality), and 法界 [fa jie] (Dharmadhatu) is the 智體 [zhi ti] (essence of wisdom) of ultimate reality. When 大日法身 [da ri fa shen] (Vairocana's Dharma-kaya) dwells within this 智體 [zhi ti] (essence of wisdom) of ultimate reality, it is called a 宮 [gong] (palace). If according to a superficial explanation, it refers to the summit of the 色界 [se jie] (Rupadhatu / Form Realm), the 自在天宮 [zi zai tian gong] (Mahesvara's Heavenly Palace) of 摩醯首羅天 [mo xi shou luo tian] (Mahesvara Deva). The 大日經疏 [da ri jing shu] (Commentary on the Mahavairocana Sutra), Chapter 1, states: "金剛 [jin gang] (Vajra) symbolizes 實相智 [shi xiang zhi] (wisdom of ultimate reality)... 法界 [fa jie] (Dharmadhatu) is the vast 金剛 [jin gang] (Vajra) 智體 [zhi ti] (essence of wisdom)... It is where the 心王 [xin wang] (Mind King) resides, hence it is called a 宮 [gong] (palace). This 宮 [gong] (palace) is the 成菩提處 [cheng pu ti chu] (place where enlightenment was attained) by 古佛 [gu fu] (ancient Buddhas), namely 摩醯首羅天宮 [mo xi shou luo tian gong] (Mahesvara's Heavenly Palace)."
