竭支 [jie zhi]—(jié zhī) — A type of garment (衣服 [yi fu]), also written as 祇支 [qi zhi] (qí zhī). It is translated as "armpit-covering garment" (覆腋衣 [fu ye yi] (fù yè yī)). It is rectangular, covering the right armpit from the left shoulder.

Xuanying's "Sounds and Meanings" (玄應音義 [xuan ying yin yi]) Vol. 4 states: "(jié zhī) or 僧祇支 [seng qi zhi] (sēng qí zhī) are both corruptions; it should be 僧伽鵄 [seng jia chi] (sēng gā chī), which translates to 'armpit-covering'. If one wears 瞿修羅 [qu xiu luo] (qú xiū luó), then one does not wear 僧伽鵄 [seng jia chi] (sēng gā chī). As for 瞿修羅 [qu xiu luo] (qú xiū luó), it means 圌 [chuan] (chuí) here (referring to a type of garment named after its shape, which might resemble a container or wrap), and is named after its garment shape."

"Zichi Ji" (資持記 [zi chi ji]) Vol. 3, Part 3 says: "(jié zhī) is 祇支 [qi zhi] (qí zhī), and its dimensions are quadrilateral."

Saṃkakṣikā.

Saṁkakṣikā。
