羯磨會 [jie mo hui]—Karma Assembly — [Term] This is the central assembly (中央會 [zhong yang hui]) of the Mandala of the Nine Assemblies of the Vajra Realm (金剛界九會曼陀羅 [jin gang jie jiu hui man tuo luo]). It is also called the Fundamental Assembly (根本會 [gen ben hui]) and the Body-Accomplishment Assembly (成身會 [cheng shen hui]). This is named the Body-Accomplishment Assembly because it displays the original forms of all honored deities. Among the Four Mandalas (四曼 [si man]), it is the Great Mandala (大曼 [da man]) (because it represents the entirety of the body-form). However, it is named the Karma Assembly because it emphasizes the meaning of "action" or "performance" upon the true human body. The second volume of the Notes on the Esoteric Treasury Record (秘藏記鈔 [mi cang ji chao]) states that this assembly contains thirty-seven honored deities, the Thousand Buddhas of the Bhadrakalpa (賢劫千佛 [xian jie qian fu]), the Twenty Devas (二十天 [er shi tian]), and the Four Vajra Holders (四執金剛 [si zhi jin gang]), totaling one thousand sixty-one honored deities.
