講堂 [jiang tang]—A lecture hall — [a hall/pagoda (堂塔 [tang ta])] is a hall or building for preaching the Dharma (說法 [shuo fa]) and explaining sutras (講經 [jiang jing]). The lower section of the Sutra of Immeasurable Life (無量壽經 [wu liang shou jing]) states: "When Amitābha Buddha (無量壽佛 [wu liang shou fu]) was establishing the Dharma for the great assembly (大眾 [da zhong]) of Śrāvakas (聲聞 [sheng wen]) and Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]), they all gathered in the Seven-Jewel (七寶 [qi bao]) Lecture Hall to widely establish the teachings of the path and expound the wonderful Dharma (妙法 [miao fa])."

講堂—【堂塔】說法講經之堂舍。無量壽經下曰:「無量壽佛,為諸聲聞菩薩大眾班定法時,都悉集會七寶講堂,廣定道教演暢妙法。」

講堂 [jiǎng táng] [jiang tang]—
1. A place where scriptures and classics (經術 [jing shu]) were taught and studied in ancient times (舊時 [jiu shi]). From "Book of the Later Han" (《後漢書 [hou han shu]》), Volume 2, "Annals of Emperor Xiaoming of Xianzong" (顯宗孝明帝紀 [xian zong xiao ming di ji]): "Upon his return, he visited the residence of Confucius (孔子宅 [kong zi zhai]), offered sacrifices to Confucius (仲尼 [zhong ni]) and his seventy-two disciples (七十二弟子 [qi shi er di zi]). He personally attended the lecture hall, and ordered the Crown Prince (皇太子 [huang tai zi]) and various princes (諸王 [zhu wang]) to lecture on the classics (講經 [jiang jing])."
2. A place where Buddhist scriptures (佛家 [fu jia]) are expounded and Dharma (說法 [shuo fa]) is taught.
3. A classroom (教室 [jiao shi]) in a school (學校 [xue xiao]).
