Chinese Buddhism (漢傳佛教, hanchuan fojiao) is the form of Buddhism that developed in China, blending Mahayana teachings with Daoist and Confucian thought. Its texts are mainly in Classical Chinese, based on translations from Sanskrit. Major schools include Chan (Zen), Pure Land, Tiantai, and Huayan. 儉樸 [jiǎn pǔ] [jian pu]—
Daily life (生活起居 [sheng huo qi ju]) is frugal (俭省 [jian sheng]) and simple (朴实 [pu shi]). For example: "Although he earns a lot of money, he has no material desires (物欲 [wu yu]) and lives a frugal and simple (俭朴 [jian pu]) life."

簡譜 [jiǎn pǔ] [jian pu]—
A simple method of musical notation (音乐记谱法 [yin le ji pu fa]). It was approximately completed in the 17th and 18th centuries (十七 [shi qi]、八世纪 [ba shi ji]). The currently used Jianpu (简谱 [jian pu]) uses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 to represent the seven notes Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si (Do、Re、Mi、Fa、Sol、La、Si). A dot placed above the number indicates an octave higher (高八度音 [gao ba du yin]), while a dot placed below indicates an octave lower (低八度音 [di ba du yin]).
簡譜：一種簡易的音樂記譜法。約完成於十七、八世紀。現用的簡譜以1、2、3、4、5、6、7來表示 Do、Re、Mi、Fa、Sol、La、Si 等七個音。在數字的上方標圓點表示高八度音，在下方標示則表示低八度音。
