雞蛋 [jī dàn] [ji dan]—
An egg (蛋 [dan]) laid by a chicken (雞 [ji]).
From The Scholars (《儒林外史 [ru lin wai shi]》), Chapter 42 (第四二回 [di si er hui]): "Because Master Tang Liu (湯六爺 [tang liu ye]) was a person of a religious sect (教門人 [jiao men ren]), he bought twenty or thirty eggs and cooked them."
From Dream of the Red Chamber (《紅樓夢 [hong lou meng]》), Chapter 61 (第六一回 [di liu yi hui]): "Today, they wanted eggs, but there were none again."
Also known as "white fruit" (白果 [bai guo]), "chicken ovum" (雞卵 [ji luan]), or "chicken's child/egg" (雞子 [ji zi]).

吉旦 [jí dàn] [ji dan]—
The first day of every lunar month (農曆每月初一 [nong li mei yue chu yi]). From Chapter 2 of Xiyoubu (西遊補 [xi you bu]): "Suddenly, he saw three large characters, 'Lüyudian' (綠玉殿 [lu yu dian]), on the plaque above the palace gate, with a line of fine print beside them: 'Erected on an auspicious day in the second month of the first year of Tang Xintianzi (唐新天子 [tang xin tian zi]), the Romantic Emperor (風流皇帝 [feng liu huang di]).'" Also written as "Jiri" (吉日 [ji ri]).
An auspicious (吉祥 [ji xiang]) day, a good day. From Youxue Qionglin (幼學瓊林 [you xue qiong lin]), Volume 1, "Seasonal Category" (歲時類 [sui shi lei]): "Both 'Gudan' (穀旦 [gu dan]) and 'Jidan' are all good times (良辰 [liang chen])." Also written as "Jiri" (吉日 [ji ri]).
吉旦:1.農曆每月初一。《西遊補》第二回:「忽見殿門額上有綠玉殿三個大字,傍邊注著一行細字,唐新天子風流皇帝元年二月吉旦立。」也作「吉日」。
2.吉祥的日子,好日子。《幼學瓊林.卷一.歲時類》:「穀旦、吉旦,悉是良辰。」也作「吉日」。
jí dàn:1. nóng lì měi yuè chū yī. < xī yóu bǔ> dì èr huí: “hū jiàn diàn mén é shàng yǒu lǜ yù diàn sān gè dà zì, bàng biān zhù zhe yī xíng xì zì, táng xīn tiān zi fēng liú huáng dì yuán nián èr yuè jí dàn lì.” yě zuò “jí rì” .
2. jí xiáng de rì zi, hǎo rì zi. < yòu xué qióng lín. juǎn yī. suì shí lèi>: “gǔ dàn,, jí dàn, xī shì liáng chén.” yě zuò “jí rì” .
ji dan:1. nong li mei yue chu yi. < xi you bu> di er hui: "hu jian dian men e shang you lu yu dian san ge da zi, bang bian zhu zhe yi xing xi zi, tang xin tian zi feng liu huang di yuan nian er yue ji dan li." ye zuo "ji ri" .
2. ji xiang de ri zi, hao ri zi. < you xue qiong lin. juan yi. sui shi lei>: "gu dan,, ji dan, xi shi liang chen." ye zuo "ji ri" .
