Source: DDSA: A practical Hindi-English dictionary1) Jhūṭha (झूठ) [Also spelled jhuth]:—(a) false, untrue, incorrect; (nm) falsehood, lie, untruth; ~[mūṭha] falsely; without any rhyme or reason; just for fun; •[kā] sham, false; -[saca] partly true and partly false, a mixture of fact and fiction; —[kā putalā] falsehood personified, a habitual liar; —[kā pula bāṃdhanā] lit. to build a bridge of lies—to tell one lie after another; —[saca joṃḍanā/lagānā] to add fabrication to fact; to make false complaints.
2) Jhūṭhā (झूठा):—(a) false; fictitious; untrue; sham; mock; feigned; (nm) a liar; —[paḍanā] to prove false; to be rendered ineffective; [jhūṭhe kā muhaṃ kālā] a liar is damned to ultimate exposure; [jhūṭhe ko ghara/kabra taka pahuṃcānā] to expose a lie and humiliate the liar; to call off one’s bluff, to prick a bubble; [jhūṭhe para khudā kī lānata] the liar be damned; [jhūṭhoṃ kā bādaśāha/saradāra] a king of liars, a liar par excellence.
