The compiled, revised and researched forms of these two have originated the new tradition of epics. [...] The initial Mahākāvyas after the Rāmāyaṇa and the Mahābhārata were: [viz, ] Jāmbavatījaya by Pāṇini (450 B.C.)–It is in 18 Cantos.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects.
