Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryjaḷaṇēṃ (जळणें).—v i (jvala S) To burn; to be kindled; to be on fire. Pr. jaḷata ghara bhāḍyānēṃ kōṇa ghētō? Pr. kōraḍyābarōbara ōlēṃ jaḷatēṃ. 2 To burn; to blaze--fire. 3 To be scorched or blasted--crops &c. from intense heat or cold. 4 To be inflamed (with anger, lust, cupidity). 5 To have a burning sensation (in fever, from crudities, from bile). 6 At cards. To become worthless or powerless--a card, it having been kept in hand when it should have been played. 7 fig. To be fermenting, working, boiling--pride, rage &c. Ex. tyācē aṅgīṃ kitī mastī jaḷatī āhē. jaḷō or jaḷō jaḷō Burn thee! burn it! Used in expression of anger or scorn. Ex. jaḷō jaḷō tayācā japa || vyartha kāya kōraḍā pratāpa || gurusvarūpa nāvaḍē jayā ||. jaḷata bhākara khāvī paḷata hāṭānta jāvēṃ To make all haste and speed under great sense of urgency. najaḷaṇēṃ Not to burn, i. e. not to be destroyable even by fire; to be inexhaustibly plentiful--crops, possessions, money.
