italākha (इतलाख) [or खी, khī].—a sometimes italāka or kī a ( A or A) Separate, distinct, independent, free. Applied particularly to troops kept for the public service by chieftains, and paid from the treasury. Opp. to sarañjāmī That are paid by villages and lands being assigned for them. Applied also to public servants borne on one establishment and employed by another: also to supernumerary or extra public servants, or to public servants or troops entertained for an emergency or occasion.
