Source: archive.org: Ceylon Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society 1963Issarasamaṇa is the name of a vihāra built by Devānaṃpiya Tissa (B.C. 247-207) and was situated in the southern area of Anurādhapura.—Issarasamaṇa-vihāra (present Vessagiriya) was founded by Devānaṃpiya Tissa at the place where 500 disciples under the prince Ariṭṭha dwelt after their conversion by Mahinda.
