An appearance of fear (害怕 [hai pa]) or dread (恐懼 [kong ju]). For example: "Seeing my younger brother (小弟 [xiao di]) with a look of panic on his face, he must have been startled (驚嚇 [jing xia]) by something."

惶然:害怕、恐懼的樣子。如:「看小弟一臉惶然,想必是受了什麼驚嚇。」

1. An appearance of sudden realization or enlightenment. From Chapter 60 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms (《三國演義 [san guo yan yi]》): "Xuande (玄德 [xuan de]) then, as if suddenly enlightened, said: 'Words of gold and stone (金石之言 [jin shi zhi yan]) should be etched into my heart (肺腑 [fei fu]).'"
2. Dazed and confused; indistinct or unclear. From Pei Xing's (裴鉶 [pei xing]) Chuanqi (《傳奇 [chuan qi]》) - Kunlun Nu (《崑崙奴 [kun lun nu]》) from the Tang Dynasty (唐 [tang]): "The scholar returned, with the intention of achieving the highest rank (一品 [yi pin]), and went back to the academy (學院 [xue yuan]). His spirit lost and mind captivated (神迷意奪 [shen mi yi duo]), his words diminished and his expression disheartened (語減容沮 [yu jian rong ju]). He was lost in deep thought (凝思 [ning si]), forgetting to eat even during the day (日不暇食 [ri bu xia shi])."
3. As if; seemingly. For example: "After half a lifetime of wandering (漂泊 [piao po]) in a foreign land (異鄉 [yi xiang]), returning to my hometown (故鄉 [gu xiang]), it felt as if a world had passed (如隔世 [ru ge shi])."

2.茫然迷糊,模糊不清的樣子。唐.裴鉶《傳奇.崑崙奴》:「生歸達一品意,返學院,神迷意奪,語減容沮,恍然凝思,日不暇食。」
3.彷彿。如:「過了半生異鄉漂泊的生活,再回到故鄉,恍然如隔世一般。」

3. fǎng fú. rú: “guò le bàn shēng yì xiāng piào pō de shēng huó, zài huí dào gù xiāng, huǎng rán rú gé shì yī bān.”
