Source: academia.edu: A Study and Translation of the GaganagañjaparipṛcchāHetukriyā (हेतुक्रिया) refers to “(understanding) cause and action”, according to the Gaganagañjaparipṛcchā: the eighth chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (a collection of Mahāyāna Buddhist Sūtras).—Accordingly, “What then, the son of good family, is memory (dhāraṇī)? [...] (37) knowledge understanding afflictions and purifications truly as they are; (38) knowledge understanding cause and action (hetukriyā); (39) knowledge of the manifestation of all dharmas free from blindness”.
Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many sūtras of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā sūtras.
