hātōhāta (हातोहात).—ad (hāta by redup.) From hand to hand; from the hands of one to the hands of a second, and thus onwards;--as tossing bricks, bundles of grass &c., or delivering packages or burdens to be conveyed to a distance. 2 also hātōhātīṃ Smartly, rapidly, sharply, briskly, hand over hand. Ex. nadīcē tīrīṃ basalōṃ hōtōṃ tōṃ hā0 pūra ālā; snāna karūna aṅga pusatōṃ āhēṃ tōṃ hā0 pāūsa ālā; hiṃvāḷyācē divasānta dupāra hā0 bharatī. hātōhātīṃ yēṇēṃ To come to fisticuffs or blows.
