Hathelī (हथेली):—(nf) palm of the hand; —[khujānā/khujalānā] lit. palm to itch—a happy augury for an income; an inkling for inflicting a beating; —[denā/lagānā] to lend support; —[para jāna/sira rakhanā yā liye phiranā] to risk one’s life; —[para jāna honā] to be exposed to risk of life; —[para dahī jamānā] to strive for instant accomplishment of a job; —[para sira rakhanā] to undertake a risk of life, to expose one’s life to danger; —[para sarasoṃ jamānā] to accomplish a task within an impossible span of time; —[para sarasoṃ nahīṃ jamatī] Rome was not built in a day; —[poṭanā/bajānā] to laud/to revel by clapping; —[meṃ cheda hotā hai] money burns hole in (one’s) pocket.
