hastapagadasta (हस्तपगदस्त).—or -dastī a (A formation with hasta Hand, paga A square of the chessboard, and P Hand.) An epithet of that mode of playing chess of which it is the law, or of that law of which it is the principle, both that the piece once touched shall be played, and that in the square into which it is put, it shall remain; touch and go. Used with khēḷa, bājī, and similar nouns. 2 as ad After the mode or according to the law above detailed--playing at chess. Used with khēḷaṇēṃ and similar verbs.
