Source: archive.org: Yoga Tradition of the Mysore PalaceHastāṅgulibaddhāsana (हस्ताङ्गुलिबद्धासन) is a type of posture (āsana), according to verse 116 of the Śrītattvanidhi.—Accordingly, “Bind the fingers of the two hands. Pass the whole body through the arms and then wring the body. This is hastāṅgulibaddhāsana, the bound finger āsana”.
The 19th-century Śrītattvanidhi is a sanskrit treatise describing 80 primary āsanas, or ‘posture’ and several additional ones (e.g., hastāṅguli-baddha-āsana).
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
