Haridrānna (हरिद्रान्न) refers to a type of food-offering mentioned in verse 25.114b of the 8th-century Īśvarasaṃhitā. Accordingly, “the crushed turmeric shall be of a quantity of pala in haridrānna of one āḍhaka. It shall have the essence of green gram with pure jaggery”.

Haridrānna (हरिद्रान्न) refers to “rice cooked with turmeric” and represents one of the six kinds of “cooked rice” (bhakta) as described in the 17th century Bhojanakutūhala (dravyaguṇāguṇa-kathana), and is commonly found in literature dealing with the topics of dietetics and culinary art, also known as Pākaśāstra or Pākakalā.—[...] Cooked rice dishes are of six types based upon the different ingredients used along with rice. These, collectively called as ṣaḍvidhānna. They are [viz., haridrānna (rice cooked with turmeric)]. To describe this ṣaḍvidhānna the author quotes an Ayurvedic text namely Kriyāsāra.

(Haridrānna ingredients): rice, churned curds (specifically that of cow), turmeric, pepper and cumin seeds. (Cooking instructions): Rice is mixed with curd four times than that of rice. Add a small amount of turmeric along with pepper and cumin seeds to the above said rice curd mixture. Then cook the mixture well. This preparation is known as haridrānna.
