Source: DDSA: The Molesworth Marathi and English Dictionaryharaṇēṃ (हरणें).—v c (haraṇa S) To take away; to seize and bear off forcibly or wrongfully. 2 To carry off or away (pain, sin, trouble, affliction, calamity, blame, distress, disease). 3 To win, i. e. to bear off (as a prize). Ex. tyānēṃ pahilyā ḍāvāsa śambhara rupayē māṇḍalē tē myāṃ haralē.

haraṇēṃ (हरणें).—v i To lose; to fail (in a battle or fight, a game or play, an argument, a suit): also to fail, miss, miscarry, fall abortive or unavailing;--as wisdom, ingenuity, ability, an effort, attempt, expedient. In the first clause of this sense the verb, although intransitive, may sometimes seem to take an object; but the word which it assumes into construction marks, not the object of its action, but rather the occasion, instance, bearing, or respect. Ex. mī vāda haralōṃ, khēḷa -bājī -rupayā -paṇa &c. haralōṃ.
