haṇḍībāga (हंडीबाग).—m ( H) The boy belonging to a party of snakemen, conjurers, or mountebanks. Hence 2 Applied to a pert and saucy or to a prompt and precocious boy. 3 A significant term for a child that is ever in the kitchen and amongst the pots, anticipating his dinner; also for a sponger or shabby fellow sharp at smelling out a dinner but slack at earning it.
