Source: Google Books: The Crystal Mirror of Philosophical SystemsGuru Yoga refers to one of the “Four Preparations” (i.e., “preliminary practices for tantra”) which are known in Tibetan as: sngon 'gro sbyor ba bzhi.—Accordingly, [while describing the early Kagyü arrangements of Mahāmudrā], [regarding the yoga of the co-emergent]: The Four Preparations are: Prostration, Vajrasattva purification meditation, Guru Yoga and Mandala offerings.

Tibetan Buddhism includes schools such as Nyingma, Kadampa, Kagyu and Gelug. Their primary canon of literature is divided in two broad categories: The Kangyur, which consists of Buddha’s words, and the Tengyur, which includes commentaries from various sources. Esotericism and tantra techniques (vajrayāna) are collected indepently.
