Guṇādi (गुणादि).—A class of words headed by the word गुण (guṇa), which, when preceded by the word बहु (bahu) in a Bahuvrihi compound, do not have their last vowel acute; e. g. बहुगुणा रज्जुः (bahuguṇā rajjuḥ); बह्वक्षरं पदम् (bahvakṣaraṃ padam), etc. This class of गुणादि (guṇādi) words is considered as आकृतिगण (ākṛtigaṇa); cf. Kas, on P. VI. 2.176.

Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
