官身 [guān shēn] [guan shen]—
1. A person holding public office (公職 [gong zhi]). Song (宋 [song]) Dynasty. Yan Jidao's (晏幾道 [yan ji dao]) ci poem "Sheng Cha Zi: How Many Days Does an Official Body Have Leisure?" (生查子 [sheng cha zi].幾日閒 [ji ri xian]): "How many days does an official body have leisure? When will worldly affairs (世事 [shi shi]) ever be enough?"
2. In the Yuan (元 [yuan]) and Ming (明 [ming]) Dynasties, prostitutes (妓女 [ji nu]) who, by custom, had to be registered with the government (官府 [guan fu]) and were ready to be summoned for service (徵調 [zheng diao]) at any time, were called "" (guān shēn). From Volume 25 of "The First Collection of Tales to Strike the Table and Amaze the World" (初刻拍案驚奇 [chu ke pai an jing qi]): "At this time, although the scholar (太學 [tai xue]) had passed the imperial examination (得第 [de di]), Pan Nu (盼奴 [pan nu]) was still a '' (guān shēn), and thus could not be married."
官身:1.身任公職的人。宋.晏幾道〈生查子.官身幾日閒〉詞:「官身幾日閒,世事何時足?」
2.元明時代的妓女,按例須列名於官府,隨時聽候徵調,稱為「官身」。《初刻拍案驚奇》卷二五:「此時太學固然得第,盼奴還是個官身,卻就娶他不得。」

官紳 [guān shēn] [guan shen]—
Officials (官吏 [guan li]) and local gentry (地方紳士 [de fang shen shi]). From "Fuhui Quanshu (福惠全書 [fu hui quan shu]), Volume 8, Miscellaneous Taxes Section, School Rent (學租 [xue zu])": "The so-called school rent (學租 [xue zu]), as well as lands for ancestral halls for former worthies (先賢祠堂 [xian xian ci tang]) and academies (書院 [shu yuan]), were all purchased by officials and gentry through donations of their salaries (俸 [feng]) and wealth (貲 [zi])."

guān shēn: guān lì hé de fāng shēn shì. < fú huì quán shū. juǎn bā. zá kè bù. xué zū>: “suǒ wèi xué zū, jí xiān xián cí táng shū yuàn děng de, jiē guān shēn juān fèng zī suǒ gòu.”
