(-ṇaḥ) A deity, a god. E. gīḥ speech, and vāṇa an arrow or weapon in general, whose fiat or word is his weapon; or gī with vana to desire, affix aṇ, desiring hymns, prayers, &c. it is also written gīrbbāṇa.
