Source: What is India: Annual Report on Indian Epigraphy (1945-1952)Ghoṣmañjus is an archaeologically important site situated in Jāmui sub-division (Monghyr or Munger district, Bihar), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Ghoṣmañjus there is a pedestal of a broken Buddhist image which begins with the Buddhist formula ye dharmā, etc. Records the gift of the image by a merchant named Pānika who was a son of Maheśvara and a lay follower of Mahāyāna Buddhism. The Sanskrit inscription is written in characters of about the 11th century A.D.
