gayāvaḷa (गयावळ).—m A Brahman subsisting upon the offerings made by pilgrims at Gaya, serving them by uttering for them saṅkalpa q. v. &c. 2 fig. A term of reproach for a Brahman neglectful of prescribed rules and rites and walking disorderly: also for one who, although possessed of money, wit &c., assumes the garb and demeanour of poverty or idiocy.
