乾溼 [gān shī] [gan shi]—
Melon seeds and fruits served to guests in a brothel (妓院 [ji yuan]). Because one is dry (乾 [gan]) and one is wet (溼 [shi]), they are called "" (gān shī). From "The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai" (《海上花列傳 [hai shang hua lie chuan]》), Chapter One: "楊家娒 [yang jia mei] (Yángjiā Mǒu) was busily adding teacups, and told 大姐 [da jie] (dàjiě) to prepare the water pipe. Then the 外場 [wai chang] (wàichǎng) attendant brought in the (gān shī)."
