Source: Singhi Jain Series: Ratnaprabha-suri’s Kuvalayamala-katha (history)Gamgajul refers to Gaṅgāpaṭa: a type of fabric (cloth) commonly traded with foreign merchants in ancient India, according to Uddyotanasūri in his 8th-century Kuvalayamālā (a Prakrit Campū, similar to Kāvya poetry).—Gaṅgāpaṭa seems to have been a special kind of silk manufactured for export to India which was here famous under the name of cīnāṃsuka. It seems to have been white silk known in India as gamgajul.
