Gaṃḍasu (ಗಂಡಸು):—

1) [noun] an adult male human; a man.

2) [noun] a man having qualities as manliness, courage, etc.

3) [noun] ಗಂಡಸಿಗೇಕೆ ಗೌರಿ ದುಃಖ [gamdasigeke gauri duhkha] gaṇḍasigēke gauri duhkha (prov.) why should one bother about things totally unconnected to oneself; ಗಂಡಸು ಕೂತುಕೆಟ್ಟ, ಹೆಂಗಸು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟಳು [gamdasu kutuketta, hemgasu tirugi kettalu] gaṇḍasu kūtu keṭṭa, hengasu tirugi keṭṭaḷu (prov.) a lazy man, a roaming woman spoil themselves; ಅಳುವ ಗಂಡಸನ್ನು ನಗುವ ಹೆಂಗಸನ್ನು ನಂಬಬೇಡ [aluva gamdasannu naguva hemgasannu nambabeda]. aḷuva gaṇḍasannu namba bēḍa, naguva heŋgasannu namba bēḍa (prov.) never rely on a helplessly crying man and a flirting woman.
