Galegaṇḍa (गलेगण्ड).—A kind of bird, (so called from the pendulous fleshy purse hanging from its throat); Adjutant bird.

(-ṇḍaḥ) A kind of bird, (the Adjutant or Ardea argala.) E. gala the throat, in the seventh case, and gaṇḍa a boil; alluding to a pendulous fleshy purse hanging from the throat.
