Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarG (ग्).—Third letter of the guttural class of consonants, possessed of the properties घोष, संवृत, नाद (ghoṣa, saṃvṛta, nāda) and अल्पप्राण (alpaprāṇa); some grammarians look upon the word क्ङित् (kṅit) (P.I.1.5) as made up of क्, ग् (k, g) and ङ् (ṅ) and say that the Guna and Vṛddhi substitutes do not take place in the vowels इ, उ, ऋ (i, u, ṛ), and लृ (lṛ) if an affix or so, marked by the mute letter ग् (g) follows.

Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
