父母官 [fù mǔ guān] [fu mu guan]—
In ancient times, local officials such as those of prefectures and counties (州縣 [zhou xian]) were called "parental officials". Chapter 14 of Water Margin (水滸傳 [shui hu chuan]) states: "Lest in the future, when the parental officials question, the baozheng (保正 [bao zheng]) will also have a good answer."
父母官:古代稱州縣等地方官為「父母官」。《水滸傳》第一四回:「恐日後父母官問時,保正也好答應。」
